Use the M2 app on your phone or tablet to teach a lesson, get real-time coaching from M2, and review feedback when the session ends. You do not need an M2 robot to use the mobile app.
If you need help signing in, see Sign-In Options in MirrorTalk & M2.
Sign in and select a group
- Open the M2 app on your phone or tablet.
- Sign in with your M2 account credentials.
- Select the group you will teach in, or create a new group if this is your first time.
Set up a teaching activity
When you open a group, you may see a previous activity. To start a new one, tap the plus button. You are in a new activity when you see Start teaching at the bottom of the screen.
- Open the Activity Settings section.
- Rename the activity so you can easily find it later.
- Optionally add a focus for feedback, such as questioning or student engagement.
-
Close the settings panel when you are ready.
Start teaching
Tap Start Teaching. M2 listens through your device's microphone.
The mobile app uses the device microphone only. Keep the phone or tablet close to you and your students. A mobile device may not capture the whole classroom the way an M2 robot does. The app records audio only; it does not record video. [If you have a Swivl CX Series Robot - check out this article: CX Robot + M2 App Integration]
Get support during the session
Tap the screen to see M2's coaching options:
- Classroom Management — tips to redirect or settle the class.
- Check for Understanding — ways to check whether students are following the lesson.
- Instructional Guide — an activity script to read aloud or adapt.
-
Message M2 — ask any other question; M2 responds right away. This button is at the bottom of the screen.
Session controls
- Listening ON/OFF — tap the listening indicator in the upper-left corner to turn listening on or off. When listening is off, M2 does not capture the lesson or provide feedback for that time.
- Hide — enables a screen saver. Tap Tap to unlock at the bottom of the screen to return to the session.
- X — closes the session from the upper-right corner when you finish teaching.
End the session and review feedback
- Tap X in the upper-right corner to close the session.
- When your activity is analyzed, open your feedback to review scores and individual feedback items.
- Use Chat with M2 to ask follow-up questions about the feedback.
M2 needs enough lesson content to generate feedback. If the session is very short, or if you still see Start Teaching, no feedback will be generated.
Important
- In-Ear Translation Summaries are not available in the mobile app. They are only available when using an M2 robot with remotes and headphones.
- If you turn listening off during the session, M2 cannot provide feedback for that part of the lesson.
- Very short sessions (less than 2 minutes) won't generate feedback.
