Getting Started with Mirror

Adjust Reflection Dimensions

Reflections on Mirror are based on the 4F Framework which focuses on the four dimensions, Facts, Feelings, Findings and Future. Let's examine what these dimensions are and how they help to personalize the reflections you customize for yourself or for your group members. When you customize your reflections on Mirror, you can decide which dimensions to include, which then defines how many questions a reflector will see as well as what data you'll be able to pick up on from that reflection.

Depending on how old reflectors are, it's useful to think about all of the Fs as contributing to a solid reflection. By default, participants in grades Pre-K to 8th grade will see questions related to Facts and Feelings, while participants 9th grade and up will see Facts and Findings questions. But it's up to you to adjust.

Facts

Enabling this dimension defines a reflection's first question and prompts learners to explain the details of their experience. It answers the question "what were you working on?"

Feelings

Enabling this dimension defines a reflection's second question and prompts learners to express how they feel about their work. Here, we're looking for reflectors to articulate the emotions at play as they work.

Findings

Enabling this dimension defines a reflection's third question and prompts learners to speak to what their experiences make them realize. Here, we're trying to understand if reflectors are adapting their understanding of their work and their world.

Future
Enabling this dimension defines a reflection's fourth question and prompts learners to come up with good, motivating goals. It answer's "what will you do next?"
