Quick M2 Setup Demonstration
Getting Started with a Personal M2 Session
1. Turn on the Mirror device and log into your MirrorTalk account. (For setup instructions, refer to the Step-by-Step Guide to Mirror.)
2.Click "Start" to start a session. That’s it—the M2 session has begun!
If you’d like to specify the activity by giving it an objective, click on the activity name at the top center. A customization pop-up will appear, allowing you to enter specific instructions or name the activity. Once you're done, click the close button to proceed.
3. The session will begin, and M2 will listen, providing guidance at selected time intervals. You can interact with M2 in two ways:
Hold to Speak — Use this when you want to ask M2 a specific question. Press and hold the on-screen button or the center button on the remote, speak your question, and M2 will respond directly.
Tap for Magic — Use this when you want M2 to provide a reflective summary or insight.
Tap the button once (whether it shows Hold to Speak or Tap for Magic), and M2 will generate a statement based on the input collected during the session.
👉 A single tap always starts Tap for Magic, while a long press always activates Hold to Speak—you don’t need to wait for the animation to switch between them.
4. All interactions with M2 will be saved and displayed on your device. If you need to pause the session, click the close button in the top-right corner. When ready to continue, click "Resume." A summary of your activity will be displayed on the dashboard card. The minimum session time is one minute. If the session lasts longer than one minute, tap on the activity card to choose whether you’d like to proceed with a personal reflection or assign the activity to your group.
(You can still resume the session by clicking "Resume" next to the activity name.)
If you wish to record an observational video before reflecting, click the 'Video icon' button on the right. To learn how to share your recording from M2 or MirrorTalk to Reflectivity, visit: How to Create and Share a Personal Observation Video from M2/MirrorTalk to Reflectivity
To end the session, click the close button. To receive a score and complete the activity, you need to complete a personal reflection.
Before starting a personal reflection, click the "Settings" button in the top-right corner to adjust your preferences for video, audio recording, or enabling a greeting.
5. Once you begin your personal reflection, M2 will prompt you with a general question to help guide your thoughts. After completing your reflection, it will be saved and displayed on your Dashboard, along with key details in the top-left corner.
Once Personal Reflection is completed, the activity will appear under the M2 Feedback tab.
To set up and conduct a Group Reflection, tap on the tab, select "Summary," and then choose "Customize Assignment." Next, select the group you wish to assign it to. The M2 will generate multiple AI-powered assignments, which you can further customize if needed.
To learn more about customizing Group Workspace and adding participants, please check this article: How can I use Group Workspace?
Share My Personal Card to Group
You can also share your personal reflection with a group, but only with adult groups. All the information available to a person is also accessible to the coach. It is possible to unshare the reflection at any time. Only the coach can see the card, not other participants. Higher education professors can share their cards with higher education student groups, and higher education students can do the same. Reflections can be shared with individuals only via a weblink on the web.
You can share your personal reflection from both M2 device and MirrorTalk web platform at mirrortalk.ai.
M2 Guided Mode
M2 Guide mode allows you to use M2 AI with your group. Simply press the Guide button at the bottom to start the flow. Guided Mode lets students use M2 independently while their activity is recorded through transcription for the teacher. Teacher-only features remain restricted, making it easy to create student activities with minimal setup. To learn more, please refer to this article: M2 Guided Mode
M2 Session Transcript
After launching an M2 session, the M2 will capture and transcribe all interactions and spoken words. You can view the transcript by pausing or closing the session, then tapping the activity card on the dashboard and selecting "Transcript."
The transcript will include timestamps of interactions. If Group Mode was used during the session, those segments will be separated by a grey line and a group icon .
Transcript is interactive - you can later play it back by clicking on the reflection card, selecting Transcript, and clicking on the volume icon.
