Getting Started with a Personal M2 Session
1. Turn on the Mirror device and log into your MirrorTalk account. (For setup instructions, refer to the Step-by-Step Guide to Mirror.)
Before starting a session, click the "Settings" button in the top-right corner to adjust your preferences for video, audio recording, or enabling a greeting.
2.Click "New" to start a session. A customization pop-up will appear, allowing you to enter specific instructions. Once completed, click the close button to proceed. You can modify the Activity instructions by selecting its name at the top middle.
3. The session will begin, and M2 will listen, providing guidance at selected time intervals. To use the Ask M2 feature, press and hold the "Hold to Ask M2" button or press and hold the central button on the remote. (Learn more about M2 remotes here.)
4. All interactions with M2 will be saved and displayed on your device. If you need to pause the session, click the close button in the top-right corner. When ready to continue, click "Resume." A summary of your activity will be displayed on the dashboard card.
If you wish to record an observational video before reflecting, click the 'Video' button in the bottom right corner. To learn how to share your recording from M2 or MirrorTalk to Reflectivity, visit: How to Create and Share a Personal Observation Video from M2/MirrorTalk to Reflectivity
To end the session, click the close button. The minimum session time is one minute. If you decide to exit before this time, you will see the "Resume" button. If the session duration exceeds one minute, the "Resume" button will change to "Reflect," allowing you to proceed with your personal or group reflection. (You can still resume the session by clicking "Resume" next to the activity name.)
5. Once you begin your personal reflection, M2 will prompt you with a general question to help guide your thoughts. After completing your reflection, it will be saved and displayed on your Dashboard, along with key details in the top-left corner.
When Personal Reflection is completed, the violet "Reflect" button will disappear. To set up and conduct a Group Reflection, click the three-dot button in the top right corner of the Activity card and select "Group Reflection." If you choose to set up a Group Reflection first, the "Reflect" button will remain active.
To assign and conduct a Group Reflection, the M2 will generate multiple AI assignments, with the option to customize them if needed. After assigning, you simply need to add participants and hit "Start." To learn more about customizing Group Workspace and adding participants, please check this article: How can I use Group Workspace?
Share My Personal Card to Group
You can also share your personal reflection with a group, but only with adult groups. All the information available to a person is also accessible to the coach. It is possible to unshare the reflection at any time. Only the coach can see the card, not other participants. Higher education professors can share their cards with higher education student groups, and higher education students can do the same. Reflections can be shared with individuals only via a weblink on the web.
You can share your personal reflection from both M2 device and MirrorTalk web platform at mirrortalk.ai.
M2 Group Mode and Its Functions
The M2 Group Mode allows you to use the M2 AI for your group. After turning it on, simply add directions via the "Ask M2" button so M2 understands what the group is working on. The feedback from this mode remains separate from the Teacher's mode, ensuring that educators receive proper feedback only within their designated view. When you switch back, you will see a short summary of what happened during Group Mode in the M2 flow.
There are two ways to turn on Group Mode:
-
Using the Remote – Simply click the right button on the M2 remote. You will see a notification confirming that the mode is on.
-
Using the M2 Interface – Click the icon in the top left corner of M2 to activate the mode.
How to Exit the Group Mode
There are two ways to end Group Mode:
-
Using the Remote – Press the left button twice. After the first click, a hint image will appear, confirming if you wish to exit Group Mode.
-
Using the M2 Interface – Click the icon in the top left corner of M2 to exit the mode. You will be prompted to scan a QR code or use your email to confirm the exit.
M2 Session Transcript
After launching an M2 session, the M2 will capture and transcribe all interactions and spoken words. You can view the transcript by pausing or closing the session, then tapping the activity card on the dashboard and selecting "Transcript."
The transcript will include timestamps of interactions. If Group Mode was used during the session, those segments will be separated by a grey line and a group icon .
Transcript is interactive - you can later play it back by clicking on the reflection card, selecting Transcript, and clicking on the volume icon.
