Before you begin reflecting with MirrorTalk via your web browser, make sure you have enabled camera and microphone permissions on your browser. Camera and microphone permissions are required for MirrorTalk to record your reflection and provide feedback and insights.
If you have not enabled camera and microphone permissions, you may see a user message like the one below:
Follow the directions below to enable camera and microphone permissions for your browser.
On Macbook
Chrome
Before enabling camera and microphone permissions, your browser may ask you to turn on permissions in your computer settings to allow access. Follow the steps below for Google Chrome:
Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Site Settings.
Under Permissions, select Camera or Microphone, and turn on the permissions.
To enable microphone and camera access in your browser for the MirrorTalk platform, please perform the following actions:
1. Go to mirrortalk.ai/auth and log in or set up your MirrorTalk account:
2. Click on the controls icon located in the left corner of the URL field -> click on the switches next to 'Microphone' and 'Camera' options.
3. Once it is done, you will be asked to reload the page to apply your updated settings.

Before enabling camera and microphone permissions, your browser may ask you to turn on permissions in your computer settings to allow access. Follow the steps below for Mozilla Firefox:
Go to Settings > Privacy & Security.
Scroll down to Permissions, and adjust the settings for Camera or Microphone to enable access.
To enable microphone and camera access in your Firefox browser for the MirrorTalk platform, please perform the following actions:
1. When prompted with a notification asking if the website can use your microphone, look for the microphone icon in the notification pop-up:
- Select the microphone you want to use
- Click Allow to enable microphone access.
- Optionally, check the box "Remember for all microphones" to save your preference and avoid being prompted again.
2. After granting microphone access, a second notification will appear asking for camera access. Look for the camera icon in the pop-up.
- Click on the icon to confirm the camera you want to use.
- Select Allow to enable camera access.
- It is advisable to check the box "Remember for all cameras" to ensure the website remembers your settings
3. Verify Permissions:
- Once you allow both permissions, the website will have access to your microphone and camera, and you will see the corresponding icons appear in your browser.

Safari
On Safari, you have different ways of the browser treating requests to give access to microphone and camera to specific websites:

Ask: The site must ask if it can use the camera on your Mac.

Deny: The site can’t use your camera.

Allow: The site can always use your camera.
In order to be able to use MirrorTalk with your Safari browser, you need to select either Ask or Allow in the Safari -> Settings -> Websites -> When visiting other websites space.
When reflecting at mirrortalk.ai from Safari, if you selected "Ask", you will be automatically giving access to microphone and camera to MirrorTalk, so you will not need to perform any additional steps. If you selected "Allow" for websites when using microphone and camera, you and your students and colleagues will be prompted to allow access to the microphone and camera before the reflection starts.
1. From the dashboard were you are reflecting, click on Start.
2. If you selected option "Ask" in your Safari settings, you will be prompted to grant access to the microphone. To be able to reflect at mirrortalk.ai, select Allow.
3. You will equally be prompted to grant access to the camera. To be able to reflect at mirrortalk.ai, select Allow.

Microsoft Edge
