Additional rules/aspects of using Device Configurations:
1. Device can be added to only 1 device group simultaneously
2. Device group can be used in only 1 device configuration
- it’s possible to add same device group to another device configuration but in this case device group will be removed from first device configuration
3. Only one device configuration can be active on device
- it’s possible to deploy another device configuration but it will override previous device configuration on device
4. Any changes of device configuration will automatically trigger re-deployment process for all devices from this device configuration with new changes. It concerns to:
- any changes of WiFi profile
- any changes of certificates
- any changes of WiFi network profile, certificates statuses (turning off/on). Turning off WiFi network/certificate will remove it from device
- any changes with timezone settings
- deleting device group from device configuration will affect all the devices in this group - it will trigger deleting of device configuration from all the devices
- adding devices will trigger deployment of device configuration only on these new devices
5. Device configuration statuses:
- Draft - device configuration gets this status after it created. After this status is changed it won’t be possible to set this status again
- Active - device configuration gets this status after it was activated. Changes from point 4 will trigger re-deployment of device configuration on devices in this status
- Archived - to be updated after implementation
6. Device configuration can be deleted only if it’s empty (devices are not added to device configuration)
WiFi networks that were added on M2 DM after deployment can be found on device:
- open ‘WiFi’ settings
- tap on [Saved networks]
In order to connect to WiFi network configured on M2 DM:
- WiFi network should be active (device should see it)
- tap on it - connection will be established automatically
FAQ
?Can we use our Google option and get us on the network that our other devices use?
M2 devices don't support Google Services and cannot use the Google ecosystem for MDM. Instead, you should use M2 DM - https://dm.swivl.com/.
