CX Robot

iOS 18 Connection Issue Progress

Update as of December 4, 2024

The iOS 18 connection issue with the Swivl Robot has been resolved through a temporary workaround! 🎉

Background

After thorough testing, we identified a connectivity issue between iOS 18 and CX robot. Apple has been informed of this issue, and similar reports have been noted from other hardware manufacturers. We are actively awaiting a response and a permanent fix from Apple.

Interim Solution

The interim solution has already been released, and a firmware update for the robot is now available. Here’s what you need to do:

❗❗ First of all please restart your iOS 18 device: disconnect the Swivl robot from the iOS device using the iOS connection cable, power off and power back on, and reconnect the iOS device to Swivl Robot! You only need to do it one more time now to get the new FW.

1. To access the update, connect your iOS 18 device to the robot.

2. Turn on the robot and the marker(s), open the Swivl Capture app

3. Place the marker into the dock of the robot base

4. Your robot will prompt you to perform a hardware update. Tap on the "Update" button and wait until it reaches 100%. It only takes a minute.

Once updated to FW version 12.0213, your iOS 18 device should connect seamlessly to the robot, eliminating the need to restart your iPad before each connection.

Important Note: This FW update is not accessible to iOS devices with the OS version lower than 18. The FW update will only be accessible if an iOS 18 device is connected to the robot.

If you connect your iOS 18 device and do not see the firmware prompt, please follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings > About.

  2. Click the red circle with the number "1" next to the firmware (FW) version to initiate the update.

Restart your iPad and connect it again if you see no Update prompt.
